How You Can Help
Book Clubs for Inmates (BCFI) is supported by over 90 volunteers who generously donate their time as book club facilitators, parolee supporters, directors, readers, and others who have found a variety of ways to share their talents with BCFI. If you are interested in getting involved, we encourage you to get in touch with us! For current opportunities, as well as general interest in volunteering, please fill out the Volunteer Application Form below.
Current Volunteer Opportunities:
Book Clubs for Inmates is committed to diversity in all staff and volunteers. We are dedicated to creating and maintaining an environment that respects diverse traditions, heritages, and lived experiences.
Book club facilitator applicants should be University-educated or equivalent, and need to pass a criminal records check. Ideal facilitators are those that can make a 2+ year commitment to the role, and who have experience in education, facilitation, counselling, rehabilitation, or other relevant experience - however this is not a requirement. The minimum age requirement to volunteer with BCFI is 21, and we generally do not accept students as volunteers due to the necessary time commitment.
