How You Can Help

Book Clubs for Inmates is committed to diversity in all staff and volunteers. We are dedicated to creating and maintaining an environment that respects diverse traditions, heritages, and lived experiences.

Volunteer Application

If you are interested in getting involved, we encourage you to fill out the Volunteer Application Form below. You can expect a response to your application within two weeks of receipt; please note, we may not have local volunteer positions available at the time of your application, but we will keep your application on file for future opportunities.

Volunteer Application Form

Ideally book club and ChIRP volunteer facilitators will have a post-secondary education and can make a minimum 2+ year commitment to the role; volunteers will also ideally have experience in education, facilitation, counselling, or rehabilitation fields, however, this is not required. The minimum age requirement to volunteer with BCFI is 21, and we generally do not accept students as volunteers due to the necessary time commitment. All volunteers will need to pass a criminal background check and may also need to undergo a vulnerable sector check.
